The experience both service and food at Fook Shing was sensational. We turned up on a Saturday hoping to get a table, and knowing nothing about the restaurant and left raving fans. The pictures illustrate some of our favourites including; the oysters, quail, Chinese egg blue swimmer crab custard and amazing mains. Highly recommend as a great dining experience in Kyneton.
Absolutely flawless. From the moment we walked in, everything just worked. The ambiance was welcoming; the kind of place that immediately makes you relax. The service? Impeccable — warm, attentive, and never hovering. And the food… perfection on a plate. We had the banquet, and every dish was bursting with flavour. If you're looking for a restaurant that gets everything right, this is the one.
Don’t be fooled by the outer skin of this restaurant. You may think the interior will match the pub-like exterior… but you’d be wrong. As soon as you step through the doors you are welcomed by an amazing portrait of the man whom this restaurant is named after “Fook Shing”, a Chinese Australian community leader in colonial Victoria who later became a Detective for Victoria Police, interesting piece of history 👌 We were greeted by a friendly face as soon as we arrived and knew this would be a good experience. The atmosphere was inviting and the decor was well thought out, reflecting a modern day Asian/Chinese influence. Birthday tables are decorated with a Happy Birthday banner 😂 which is cool. I think the food we ate can be better explained by the photos I have attached. Every single bite of every dish just bursts with so much flavour, we couldn’t pick a favourite as they all tasted delicious 😋 Share plates are the way to go here or Banquets are on offer. We shared Bao buns (crispy chicken), Pork Belly (Melt in your mouth), Son-in-law eggs (best I’ve ever had), Prawn & Sausage with Flat Rice Noodle dish (flavour, flavour, flavour), Jasmine Steamed Rice and Half Crispy Chicken (because we love chicken done right 👏) Also just to make it a memorable birthday we ordered a Shing Sling cocktail 🍸 😂 Their version of a Singapore Sling 👌 Service was just as amazing. The food is an exquisite blend of classic asian dishes cooked with care and respect for the produce. The beetle leaf with prawn was a refreshing start, followed by fresh handmade dumplings with a unique roasted coriander and chilli dipping sauce. We then devoured the succulent masterstock cooked crispy chicken (the crispiest!) and divine double cooked porkbelly that was accompanied by an umame flavoured cucumber salad that perfectly offset the tender pork. We finished with semolina, coconut and roast black sesame. Divine! Congratulations everyone at Fook Shing!

We always love Fook Shing. The food is amazing every visit and the service was great as it always is. Our 12yo and 14yo have declared it the best restaurant in Kyneton, my husband and I have to agree.
This place is a hidden gem! Simple exterior decor and an Asian fusion transformation inside! The food is exceptional from every dish we tried! The staff are friendly and helpful and attentive! We loved every moment of dining here for our anniversary! Thankyou so much Rob and team! An experience not to be missed!
Amazing delicious food from entree to dessert - do not miss and worth the trip from Melbourne alone. Very accommodating of Coeliac and peanut allergies. Each bite delicious and the egg custard with crab is a MUST. Also save room for the Tapioca pudding - pandan, hint of lemon - just a dream.

Really enjoyed our lunch here while visiting from Melbourne. Food was creative and flavourful. Service was top notch. Also very cool vibe inside too. Reasonable pricing for what you get, however I would have liked a meatier lamb shank for the main.
